Design a Social Media Post

A visually engaging and accessible Instagram post.

Completed: February 2025

Project Overview

This project was part of Google Digital Marketing and E-commerce Professional certificate. I was to create an Instagram ad for Nature's Pet, a fictional Pet Supply brand. The goal was to promote a National Pet Day deal 25% off and to drive website traffic.

I needed to emphasize accessibility and eye-catching design to reach pet owners aged 25 to 34 who value animal welfare, environmental care, and simple design. The brand tone was warm, friendly, and casual and I had to communicate this in the ad's design.

Tools & Skills

I used Canva for the whole design process. This included picking the layout, fonts, colors, copywriting and organizing content. I applied what I learned about social media marketing, visual design, accessibility, and copywriting. I also made sure to follow the best practices outlined in the certificate program.

My Role

This was a solo project. I executed it entirely myself following the requirements given in the instructions for the certificate program. I made all the design decisions, all the copy decisions, and customized the post to align with the brand style and the audience preferences.

The Design Process

Below is the design process that I went through to make the ad. I chose a Canva template with a soft natural set of colors and a simple layout for visual elements. I had a title that reflected the holiday and the sale. I used a clear legible brand name display, that is I put "Nature's Pet" in with strong contrast.

About the copy, I used a concise heartfelt message. I put in "National Pet Day: Eco-Friendly Supplies 25% Off." It's designed to resonate with pet owners and reflect environmental values. The call to action was a highlighted pill shaped button in the middle-left and it said "Shop Now" to prompt viewers to visit the website. Lastly, I added an animation. It's a small light animation designed to add a polished professional look without excessive distraction.

Deliverable

The final Instagram post had a clear campaign title and consistent branding. It also had a simple accessible layout which used matching fonts and colors. It had a compelling offer message and a clear call to action. Lastly, I had added animations to enhance visual appeal and grab attention.
